HBO has confirmed that the highly anticipated third season of The Last of Us is scheduled to premiere in 2027. While it’s a bit of a wait, the showrunners have a lot in store to continue the story of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in their post-apocalyptic world.
The series which started in 2022, is adapting the popular video game of the same name by Neil Druckman. It centers around Joel, a rough-around-the-edges survivor, who is charged with smuggling 14-year-old Ellie across a virus-ravaged America in hopes of finding a cure. The series has won accolades and gained popularity for its great storytelling and acting.
What We Know
Though little is known so far about the third season, it appears to adapt the storyline of the second video game entitled The Last of Us Part II. Reportedly, show-runner Craig Mazin is exploring whether or not the remaining story will be told in one long season or split into two, so whatever final ride it takes us on will be significant for the characters!
